When it comes to buying big ticket items I do research. Lots and lots of research. To the point that I can tell you there is such a thing as too much research. We're talking spreadsheets, graphs, photos.... you get the idea. So when I make that call to the dealerships asking for prices I already know who's trying to take advantage. I'm also very savvy when it comes to shady car dealership sales techniques and have no issues walking away from a sale. See my prior review of Temecula Ford for that. I received several offers from dealerships and Chris Garchitorena from Subaru of Ontario was the only one who came in with a decent price. In fact they offered invoice right out of the gate. Southern California is a tough market for buyers of Subaru's. Across the country you can routinely get below invoice. Not so in So Cal. When I sent my Ontario price quote to other dealers they either didn't answer me or they replied with "well let's compare MSRP". My reply of "Comparing MSRP does nothing if I'm already getting invoice, can you compete" went unanswered. I never received anything like that from Chris. I am extremely happy with my experience here. If I was to have one critique it would be this. Subaru is going away a bit from its rally roots and there is a large segment of Subaru owners who modify (lift, rims, tires, lights...) for off-road and overland activities. Ontario Subaru should cater to this demographic by providing already modified vehicles. Only one other dealership in the area provides this and had their prices been close to Ontario I would have bought there. They were $4k higher though. And if SOA reads this, ALL of the other dealerships were sub par. Ontario was by far the most transparent and friendly without shady car sales techniques. Thanks again to Chris Garchitorena. You're a nice guy and class act.
